About Internship
Office of Justice K.V. Viswanathan, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, is offering physical, full-time internships from September 2024 to May 2025. This one-month internship provides an immersive experience in judicial work, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability. Interns will gain valuable insights into the Indian judicial system through direct involvement in legal research and courtroom proceedings.
About Organisation
The Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial authority in the country, responsible for interpreting the Constitution and laws. Justice K.V. Viswanathan, a distinguished judge, presides over various high-profile cases. His office provides a platform for law students to engage with complex legal issues and contribute to the judicial process.
Eligibility
– Undergraduate law students in their 2nd year or above (3-year program) or 3rd year or above (5-year program)
– Postgraduate law students
Role and Responsibilities
Interns will be tasked with:
– Preparing briefs that summarize case facts, legal arguments, and relevant case law
– Conducting in-depth legal research and drafting memos and opinions
– Attending court proceedings and meetings, taking detailed minutes
– Ensuring confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information

While the internship is unpaid, it offers significant learning opportunities and exposure to high-level legal work. Interns will have the chance to observe court proceedings and interact with experienced legal professionals.
Mode and Location
This is a physical, full-time internship based at the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi. Interns must be available in person for the duration of their internship.

Important Dates
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. It is recommended to apply at least 5 weeks before the intended start date. Selected candidates will be notified 2-4 weeks prior to the beginning of their internship. Internships commence on the first working day of each month.
