The Central Information Commission (CIC) is a statutory body under the Right to Information Act, 2005.The CIC plays a crucial role in upholding transparency in government and public affairs by ensuring the implementation of the RTI Act. It facilitates citizens’ access to information from public authorities, ensuring accountability and transparency in government operations. The Commission also adjudicates complaints and appeals from information seekers who face challenges in accessing information.
Eligibility
- A Law Graduate from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.
- Must have qualified the All India Bar Examination.
- A minimum of one year of work experience in courts, judicial or quasi-judicial authorities.
- Demonstrated legal drafting skills and proficiency in language.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, computer handling, and internet browsing.
Role and Responsibilities
The Legal Consultant will:
- Assist the CIC in legal matters, including the drafting of submissions for various cases and appeals.
- Provide legal advice and guidance in relation to RTI cases, helping the Commission in adjudicating disputes effectively.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making.
- Handle court proceedings or quasi-judicial processes, ensuring that all legal submissions are accurate and comprehensive.
- Support the Commission in document management and legal communication using technology, including MS Office.
