About the Organisation

The Competition Commission of India is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, 2002. Its primary objective is to prevent practices that have an adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition in markets, protect consumer interests, and ensure freedom of trade. CCI is instrumental in fostering a healthy competitive environment within the Indian economy, making it a vital player in the country’s regulatory framework.

Eligibility

  • Second and third year of the Bachelors degree in Law (3 year course after graduation) or
  • Fourth and final year of the five-year integrated course in Law and students who have taken 3rd year exam and are entering the 4th year.
  • LLM
  • Applicable to Indian Nationals only.
  • Students with a placement in hand are not eligible.

Role and Responsibilities

Interns at CCI will engage in a variety of tasks, including:

  • Assisting in the analysis of cases related to anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominance, and mergers.
  • Conducting research projects focusing on various aspects of competition law and economics.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to support ongoing investigations and studies.
  • Preparing reports and presentations on findings and insights from research projects.
  • Participating in workshops and seminars conducted by CCI to enhance their understanding of competition policy and regulation.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates should follow these steps to apply:

  • Each application must include a recommendation from a competent authority at the academic institution where the candidate is currently enrolled. Applications lacking this recommendation will not be considered.
  • Applicants are required to submit a ‘Statement of Purpose’ of approximately 200 words, which should include a brief introduction to the topic and the objectives of their study.
  • Applications must be submitted by the 1st of the month preceding the intended start month. For example, applications for December 2016 must be submitted by November 1, 2016.
  • Completed applications in the prescribed format should be sent by post to: The Secretary, Competition Commission of India, 10th Floor, Office Block, Tower 1, Ring Road (Opposite AIIMS), Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi-110023. Alternatively, applications can be emailed to internships@cci.gov.in. The envelope containing the application should be marked “Application for Internship for Month/Year.”

Important Dates

  • Application Period: The internship application is open throughout the year with specific deadlines for each batch (Rolling basis).

Each month, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) accepts applications and offers internships to 15 students based on this notification.
