Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for different panels are as follows:
- Criminal Panel-I: Minimum of 10 years’ experience at the bar as of May 31, 2024 (excluding apprenticeship period, if any).
- Criminal Panel-II, Matrimonial Panel, Labour Panel, Civil Panel: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as of May 31, 2024 (including apprenticeship period, if any).
- Jail Visiting Panel: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as of May 31, 2024 (including apprenticeship period, if any).
- Mediator Panel: Minimum of 5 years’ experience (including apprenticeship period, if any) and 40 hours of mediator training as of May 31, 2024.
Role and Responsibilities
Empaneled advocates and mediators will:
- Provide legal representation and advice to clients assigned by the DHCLSC.
- Conduct client interviews and case research.
- Represent clients in court and during mediation sessions.
- Participate in jail visits and offer legal assistance to inmates as part of the Jail Visiting Panel.
- Conduct mediation sessions to facilitate amicable resolutions of disputes.
