Eligibility
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Experience: At least 6+ months of due diligence experience or equivalent experience in risk management, client service, operations support, or business process management.
- Education: University degree in Business or related discipline is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements surrounding the USA PATRIOT Act and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements.
- Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills.
- Ability to research, analyze, and determine a course of action for financial transactions.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.
Role and Responsibilities
The Due Diligence Associate will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive research and background investigations on individuals, entities, organizations, or locations to identify and mitigate associated sanctions, financial crime, and reputational risks.
- Reviewing and analyzing due diligence data from various sources to determine overall risk.
- Screening customers, prospects, and/or transactions against regulatory reporting lists and sanctions watch lists.
- Evaluating risks to determine permissibility under sanctions, regulations, and/or BSA/AML regulations.
- Working with high-risk customers to understand controls and activities.
- Providing appropriate direction to the lines of business through escalating confirmed sanctions alerts, PEP matches, and other risks.
- Performing documentary or non-documentary Customer Identification Program on domestic customers.
- Ensuring compliance with federal/state anti-money laundering laws and regulations.
- Consulting with peers, line of business managers, and other external parties regarding due diligence findings.
- Participating in moderate size project initiatives.
- Operating independently with minimal supervision and managing work requests to meet performance expectations.
