About the Competition
The 14th edition of the Padma Vibhushan N.A. Palkhivala Memorial National (Virtual) Moot Court Competition 2024 is being organized by The Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai (MNLU Mumbai), a prestigious institution in the field of legal education. This renowned competition, organized in association with the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (Western Zone) and the Income-tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association – Mumbai, provides an excellent platform for law students to hone their advocacy and research skills in the specialized domain of taxation law.
About Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai
MNLU Mumbai, established under The Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014, is one of the leading National Law Universities in India. The university offers a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B.(Hons.) course and other postgraduate legal programs. Admissions to its undergraduate program are through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), a competitive exam that attracts some of the brightest minds in India.
Eligibility Criteria
- Participation is open to bona fide law students enrolled in either three-year or five-year LL.B. programs.
- Each college, university, or institution is allowed to register only one team for the competition.
Prizes
The moot court competition boasts a range of awards:
- Winner: Rs. 40,000/- + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
- Runner-Up: Rs. 30,000/- + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
- Second Runner-Up: Rs. 20,000/- + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
- Additional prizes include Best Speaker, Best Researcher, Best Memorial (Petitioner), and Best Memorial (Respondent), each with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.
For the research paper competition:
- Winner: Rs. 10,000/- + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
- Runner-Up: Rs. 7,500/- + Trophy + Certificate of Merit
- Second Runner-Up: Rs. 5,000/- + Trophy + Certificate of Merit

- Registration Deadline: 15th September 2024
- Clarification Request Deadline: 15th September 2024
- Submission of Memorials: 30th September 2024
- Oral Rounds: 17th – 20th October 2024
Registration Details
Moot Court Competition
Teams must complete the registration process by filling out the Google Form no later than 15th September 2024 (11:59 P.M.). After registration, changes to team composition will only be allowed in cases of medical emergencies.
Research Paper Competition
Participants must confirm their involvement by submitting their research papers through the provided Google form no later than 30th September 2024.
