About Internship

The Allahabad High Court offers a prestigious Judicial Internship for law students, providing them with hands-on experience in legal research and court proceedings. This internship is a unique opportunity for law students to work closely with judges and learn about judicial processes in one of India’s oldest and most distinguished courts. The internship is non-remunerative and is available at both Prayagraj and Lucknow benches for a minimum period of four weeks, extendable up to six weeks based on the intern’s performance.

About Organisation

The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, established in 1869, holds a significant position in India’s judicial system. The court handles a wide array of cases, including civil, criminal, and constitutional matters. By participating in this internship, students will have the rare opportunity to observe court proceedings and gain deep insights into the Indian judicial system.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a five-year law degree recognized by the Bar Council of India.
  • Eligible students should be either:
    • In the 4th or 5th year of their five-year law course.
    • In the 2nd or 3rd year of their three-year law course.
  • A solid academic and co-curricular record is required.
  • Candidates must have basic computer skills and be proficient in legal research using online software and MS Office applications.
  • The applicant must have completed two internships of at least 30 days/4 weeks each with a law firm, lawyer, or court.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Legal research under the guidance of judges and legal professionals.
  • Assist in reviewing case files and preparing research notes on legal issues.
  • Observe court proceedings and gain exposure to the day-to-day functioning of the judiciary.
  • Engage with various judicial processes and assist in drafting orders under supervision.

Application Procedure

  • Applicants may apply online three months prior to their preferred internship start date.
  • Required documents to upload with the application:
    • Mark sheets of each semester/term for the first three years of the five-year law course.
    • A forwarding letter from the college/university issued by the Head of Department or Registrar, including the period of internship and area of interest.
    • Certificates of previous internships (if applicable) along with the official email of the issuing authority.
    • Current student ID card issued by the law school/college/university.
  • After submission, a unique Application ID will be generated and shared with the applicant for future correspondence.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview via Video Conferencing.
