About Internship

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is offering internship opportunity for law students under its Law Internship Scheme-2024. The program aims to engage 30 law interns who will be attached to CBI officers at various locations including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Bangalore. This is a valuable chance to gain practical exposure to the functioning of India’s premier investigating police agency and supplement the process of analysis within the Agency through empirical data collection and collation.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), under the Department of Personnel, Ministry of Personnel, Pension & Public Grievances, Government of India, is the leading investigative agency in the country. Established as an elite force, CBI plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of public life and ensuring the health of the national economy. It also acts as the nodal police agency in India, coordinating investigations on behalf of Interpol member countries.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this internship:

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • The applicant must be a law student in a Graduation course enrolled in a reputed Law University/Institute.
  • For those pursuing a 5-year integrated LLB course, the applicant should be undergoing or have completed the 8th semester of the course.
  • For those pursuing a 3-year LLB course, the applicant should be undergoing or have completed the 4th semester of the course.

Role and Responsibilities

Interns at CBI will:

  • Provide assistance to CBI law officers and investigating officers in researching court judgments on specific areas.
  • Help in the preparation of court applications and replies.
  • Assist in the presentation of evidence/documents and examination of witnesses in court.
  • Participate in trial work and pairvi (liaison) work.
  • Collect and collate data as required.
  • Perform any other work assigned by senior officers.
  • Interns are required to sign the “Oath of Secrecy” at the time of joining which will be binding on their conduct during the internship and beyond.

Mode and Location

This is a physical internship and will be conducted at multiple CBI locations including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Bangalore.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates must apply online on or before July 20, 2024. Before filling out the application, ensure you have the following documents ready:

  • Photograph of the candidate in .jpg format (up to 2MB).
  • Scanned signature of the candidate in .jpg format (up to 2MB).
  • Proof of Date of Birth in .pdf format (up to 2MB).
  • Marksheet from 10th class onward in .pdf format (each up to 2MB).
  • Letter issued by the present institute/college with regard to the present enrollment status of the candidate, in .pdf format (up to 2MB).
  • Recommendation letter issued by the Principal/HoD of the institute/college for undergoing CBI Law Internship for a minimum period of three months, in .pdf format (up to 2MB).
