About the Internship
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is offering a paid legal internship opportunity for law students. The selected interns will assist in legal research, analysis, and other legal tasks related to competition regulations. About the Organisation
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body established under The Competition Act, 2002, tasked with ensuring fair competition in markets across India. Formed on 14 October 2003, CCI works to prevent practices that have a negative impact on competition, thereby promoting efficiency and protecting consumer interests. The commission plays a crucial role in enforcing antitrust laws and regulating mergers and acquisitions that could affect market dynamics.
Eligibility
The internship is open to:
- Second- and third-year students of a 3-year LLB program (after graduation).
- Fourth- and final-year students of a 5-year integrated law course, including those entering their fourth year after completing their third-year exams.
- LLM students from recognized institutions.
Additional qualifications:
- Must be Indian nationals.
- Must be students from recognized Institutions and Universities with exposure to competition law.
- Students who already have a placement in hand are not eligible to apply.
Role and Responsibilities
Interns at the CCI will:
- Assist with legal research and analysis of issues related to competition law.
- Review legal cases involving potential violations of the Competition Act, 2002.
- Support the team in conducting research on legal precedents and case laws.
- Help in drafting legal reports and other documentation for internal purposes.
- Engage in discussions related to competition law and regulatory compliance.
The internship typically begins on the first working day of each month and lasts for one month. However, students interested in interning for 2-3 months can also apply, provided they receive a recommendation from their university or institution.

- Stipend: Interns will receive an honorarium of Rs. 15,000 per month.
- Certification: Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive an electronic certificate as confirmation of their work and contribution.
- Exposure to Competition Law: Interns gain hands-on experience in the field of competition law, working directly with experienced professionals.
Mode and Location
Interns will be based at the office located at the 10th Floor, Office Block, Tower 1, Ring Road (Opposite AIIMS), Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi-110023.
Application Procedure
Interested candidates can apply through the following procedure:
- Download and fill out the application form provided in the Annexure of the official notification.
- The competent authority at the academic institution where the candidate is enrolled must recommend the application.
- Submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) (around 200 words), which should cover a brief introduction of the topic and objectives of the study.
- Applications must be submitted by the 1st of the month preceding the intended internship month.
- Applications can be sent either by post to The Secretary, Competition Commission of India, 10th Floor, Office Block, Tower 1, Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi-110023, with the envelope superscribed “Application for Internship for Month/Year.”
