The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) is a quasi-judicial body in India that adjudicates issues related to company law and insolvency. Established under the Companies Act, 2013, and constituted in 2016, the NCLT has been pivotal in resolving corporate disputes, including matters related to mergers and acquisitions, shareholder disputes, and insolvency proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. With benches across major cities in India, the NCLT plays a crucial role in maintaining corporate governance and financial stability in the country.
Eligibility
To be considered for the position of Law Research Associate, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Educational Qualification: Graduate in Law (including an Integrated Degree Course in Law under the 10+2+3+3 or 10+2+5 pattern) with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks from any School/College/University/Institute established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India for admission as an Advocate or Attorney of an Indian Court.
- Skills and Experience:
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in writing and the ability to retrieve information from legal research databases such as eSCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis, and Westlaw.
- Good knowledge of computer operations and common software such as MS Office.
- Requisite knowledge of Company Law with a focus on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
Role and Responsibilities
As a Law Research Associate at the NCLT, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting detailed legal research and analysis on various corporate law issues.
- Assisting in the preparation of legal briefs, case summaries, and reports.
- Retrieving and organizing information from various legal databases and sources.
- Supporting NCLT judges and members in drafting judgments and orders.
- Participating in case discussions and providing insights based on legal research.
- Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of legal references and citations.
