About the Internship
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) offers a paid online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) for August 2024. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human rights issues and the functioning of the NHRC. The internship will run from August 5 to August 16, 2024, and will require full-time commitment from the interns.
About the Organisation
The NHRC of India is a statutory public body established on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of September 28, 1993. It was later given a statutory basis by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The NHRC is tasked with the protection and promotion of human rights, as defined by the Act, which include rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity guaranteed by the Constitution or embodied in international covenants and enforceable by courts in India.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates include:
- Students in the 3rd year and onwards of a five-year integrated PG course.
- Students in the 3rd or final year of a graduation course.
- Students of any semester/year of a postgraduate degree course.
- Students of any semester/year of a postgraduate diploma course.
- Research scholars in any stream.
Additional Requirements:
- Consistent attainment of at least 60% marks from Class XII onwards, including the current course.
- Age not exceeding 28 years as of July 1, 2024.
Role and Responsibilities
Interns will engage in various activities, including:
- Attending online sessions.
- Participating in discussions and projects.
- Submitting project presentations, project reports, and book reviews.
- Maintaining attendance, punctuality, discipline, and active participation in all sessions.
Perks
- A stipend of Rs. 2000/- upon successful completion.
- A certificate of participation based on performance parameters like attendance, punctuality, discipline, participation in online sessions, timely submission of project presentations, project reports, and book reviews.

- Mode: Online
- Duration: 2 weeks (August 5 to August 16, 2024)
- Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
Application Procedure

- Submit a 250-word Statement of Purpose (SoP) on the topic ‘Statement of Purpose (SoP) for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship’.
- Enclose self-attested scanned copies of marksheets from 12th Standard onwards and mark-sheets of each year/semester of the currently pursued course.
- Include a scanned recommendation letter/email from the HOD/Dean/Principal concerned in the annexed proforma.
