About the Internship

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) offers a paid internship. It’s open to students pursuing graduate, postgraduate, M.Phil, or PhD courses. Interns will assist in HIV prevention and control efforts. This includes working on various health programs under NACO’s supervision.

About the Organisation

NACO operates under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. It manages the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), launched in 1992. The focus is on HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment services across India. Over time, NACO has shifted towards a decentralized approach, involving NGOs and PLHIV networks.

Eligibility

  • Students enrolled in a graduate program, after completing two years.
  • Postgraduate degree/diploma students from recognized universities.
  • M.Phil and PhD candidates need approval from their institution.
  • Candidates from institutions with collaboration with NACO are preferred.

Role and Responsibilities

Interns will:

  • Support NACO’s efforts in HIV prevention and control.
  • Assist with research, program implementation, and awareness campaigns.
  • Work under NACO’s guidance to improve their understanding of public health initiatives.

Perks

  • A stipend of Rs. 8,000 per month after successful completion.
  • No additional travel expenses or claims allowed.
  • Payment upon satisfactory performance, certified by NACO’s HoD.

Mode and Location

This is an on-site internship at NACO’s headquarters in New Delhi. Interns must report directly to the office and engage with the team.

Application Procedure

  • Applications should be sent by registered post or via email to naco.internship@gmail.com.
  • Include two photographs, a valid photo ID, and an approval letter from your institution.
  • International students must have valid travel documents and an approval letter from their institutes.

Important Dates

  • Applications must be submitted by the 15th of every month.
  • The NACO Internship Committee reviews applications monthly.
  • Submit applications at least 4 weeks before the internship start date.
