About the Opportunity

HNLU-NHRC National Moot Court Competition 2024 invites law students from across the country to engage in a rigorous and intellectually stimulating experience. The theme for this year’s moot is “Tribal Rights (Constitutional Law).” The competition will feature multiple rounds, including preliminary and oral rounds, with only 20 teams qualifying for the final stage.

About Hidayatullah National Law University

Established under the Hidayatullah National University of Law, Chhattisgarh, Act (No. 10 of 2003), HNLU is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India. Founded in 2003, it is the first National Level Institute in Chhattisgarh and the sixth Law University in India. The university has earned significant accolades, including a ranking of 5th in India Today Ranking 2021 and recognition for crisis management and innovation by WURI.

Eligibility

– Open to students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate law courses (Bachelor’s Degree in Law 3-Year LLB or 5-Year LLB Integrated Programme) from any recognized institution.

– Each recognized institution is allowed to register one team. Institutions with multiple law faculties may register a team from each constituent entity or a single team representing students from various faculties.

– Only 20 teams will advance to the oral rounds.

Theme

The competition will focus on “Tribal Rights (Constitutional Law).” Participants will be required to argue and present their cases based on this theme, applying constitutional law principles to tribal rights issues.

Prizes

– Winner: ₹50,000

– Runner-Up: ₹30,000

Best Memorial: ₹7,000 each for Best Applicant and Best Respondent

Best Speaker: ₹10,000 each for Best Orator Male and Best Orator Female

Best Researcher: ₹10,000

Important Dates

August 10, 2024: Last date for seeking clarification

August 13, 2024: Last date for provisional registration

August 15, 2024: Submission of Applicant Memorial

August 22, 2024: Release of Memorial Knockout Round Result & Opening of Final Registration

August 24, 2024: Closing of Final Registration

September 20-22, 2024: Moot Court Competition

Registration Fee

– Registration Fee: ₹5,000 per team

– Accommodation (Optional): ₹3,000 per team at the University Hostel. The hostel provides basic amenities and follows specific rules.

– All meals during the competition will be provided at the university campus.

Registration Process

Teams must first complete the provisional registration process. The Provisional Registration form should be filled out by the Moot Court Committee of the respective institution. Following the memorial knockout rounds, the Final Registration form will be shared with qualifying teams, and fee payment will be required at that stage.
