About Organization
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, with the aim to provide free legal services to the weaker sections of society and to organize Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes. NALSA is dedicated to ensuring that justice is accessible to all, particularly those who cannot afford legal representation.
Eligibility
Under Secretary:
- Current Service Requirement:
- Officers under Central/State Governments, Union Territory Administration, Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Organizations, etc.
- Holding analogous posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department.
- With five years’ service in Level-10, or seven years in Level-9, or eight years in Level-8 of the 7th C.P.C pay matrix.
- Educational Qualification:
- Degree in Law from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience in law, administration, policy-making, etc.
Section Officer:
- Current Service Requirement:
- Officials under Central/State Governments, Union Territory Administration, Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Organizations, etc.
- Holding analogous posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre/department.
- Assistant Section Officer/Assistant with two years of regular service in Level-7, or six years in Level-6 of the pay matrix.
- Educational Qualification:
- Degree in Law from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Experience in legal aid, administration, and establishment.
Role and Responsibilities
Under Secretary:
- Overseeing legal and administrative functions within NALSA.
- Assisting in policy formulation and implementation.
- Coordinating with various departments and stakeholders.
- Handling legal documentation and correspondence.
Section Officer:
- Managing administrative tasks within the legal services framework.
- Assisting in the implementation of legal aid programs.
- Handling establishment matters and personnel administration.
- Coordinating between different sections and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
