About the Competition
NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, presents the 17th NALSAR-Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition, scheduled to take place from October 4 to October 6, 2024. Renowned as one of India’s premier Constitutional law moots, this competition promises to be a significant event for law students nationwide.
The NALSAR-Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition, held annually, stands out for its high standards and distinguished participation. This year, the moot will be hosted in collaboration with the Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust and the Vidhi Centre for Policy Research. The competition will be conducted in an offline format at the NALSAR Hyderabad campus.
The competition’s moot proposition, crafted by Alok Prasanna Kumar and Ritwika Sharma of the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, revolves around the complex issue of Delimitation of constituencies. This year’s edition continues to uphold its legacy of intellectual rigor and academic excellence.
Eligibility and Team Composition
The competition is open to students currently enrolled in LL.B. Degree Courses (3 year/5 year) or LLM Postgraduate Degree Courses. Teams may consist of 2 speakers or 3 members (2 speakers and 1 researcher). It is essential that all members of a team belong to the same institution, and each institution is allowed only one team.

Prize Pool
The competition offers an impressive prize pool with a total of INR 2.42 lakhs distributed among winners and outstanding performers:
- Winning Team: Trophy and cash prize of INR 75,000
- Runners-Up Team: Trophy and cash prize of INR 50,000
- Nani Palkhivala Award for Best Speaker: Trophy and cash prize of INR 50,000
- Nani Palkhivala Award for Second-Best Speaker: Trophy and cash prize of INR 20,000
- Nani Palkhivala Award for Best Speaker in Finals: Trophy and cash prize of INR 10,000
- Best Memorial (Petitioner): Trophy and cash prize of INR 10,000
- Best Memorial (Respondent): Trophy and cash prize of INR 10,000
- Best Researcher: Trophy and cash prize of INR 10,000
- Second-Best Researcher: Trophy and cash prize of INR 7,500
All participating teams will receive certificates of participation or merit based on their performance.
