About the Competition
The Viswanath Pasayat Memorial Moot Court Competition 2024 is organized in memory of Mr. Viswanath Pasayat, a distinguished lawyer recognized for his legal expertise and commitment to the downtrodden. The event is held in collaboration with the Viswanath Pasayat Memorial Committee, under the guidance of his son, Hon’ble Justice Arijit Pasayat, a former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. The competition aims to inspire law students to delve deeper into constitutional law, develop advocacy skills, and strengthen their understanding of the judicial system.
About Birla Global University
Birla Global University (BGU), a self-financed private institution established under the Birla Global University Odisha Act, 2015, is located on a sprawling 30-acre campus in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. About the School of Law
The Birla School of Law (BSOL), established in 2018, is known for its high-quality education, interdisciplinary studies, and cutting-edge infrastructure. BSOL aims to produce competent and ethical lawyers who are well-equipped to address the challenges of the modern legal landscape.
Eligibility
The competition is open to students pursuing three-year or five-year law programs from recognized universities and law schools.
Each team must consist of three members—two speakers and one researcher.

Prizes
The winners of the competition will receive the following prizes:
- Winning Team: Trophy and prize of INR 20,000
- Runner-up Team: Trophy and prize of INR 15,000
- Best Memorial: Trophy and prize of INR 10,000
- Best Researcher: Trophy and prize of INR 5,000
- Best Speaker: Trophy and prize of INR 5,000
Additionally, the top six teams, besides the winning and runner-up teams, will receive book hampers, and all participants will receive participation certificates.

- Memorial Submission Deadline: September 25, 2024
- Preliminary Rounds: October 3, 2024
- Semi-finals & Finals: October 4, 2024
- Prize Distribution Ceremony: October 10, 2024
Registration Fees
The registration fee for participating teams is INR 2000. For teams requiring accommodation, the fee is INR 4000. After provisional registration, teams will receive a confirmation and team code by September 18, 2024.
