About Organisation

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) was established in 2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act for the effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests. Headquartered in New Delhi, NGT has been instrumental in addressing environmental issues with its dedicated legal framework. The tribunal’s mandate covers the enforcement of any legal right relating to the environment and provides compensation for damages to persons and property. NGT has the authority to hear all civil cases concerning environmental laws in the country.

Eligibility

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Assistant Registrar position:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized university.
  • Currently hold an analogous post on a regular basis in the Central Government, State Government, courts, or tribunals.
  • Alternatively, candidates with five years of regular service in Pay Band 2, Rs. 9300-34800/- with Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/- (Level 9 in the pay matrix), or six years in Grade Pay of Rs. 4800/- (Level 8), or seven years in Grade Pay of Rs. 4600/- (Level 7), or ten years in Grade Pay of Rs. 4200/- (Level 6) are also eligible to apply.

Role and Responsibilities

The Assistant Registrar will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Overseeing the administration and management of legal and clerical functions within the tribunal.
  • Ensuring the proper maintenance of records, documents, and files related to tribunal proceedings.
  • Coordinating with various departments and ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
  • Assisting the Registrar in managing court operations, scheduling hearings, and facilitating smooth tribunal operations.
  • Supervising subordinate staff and ensuring the efficient handling of legal documentation and court management tasks.
