About the Organisation
The Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission (TERC) is a statutory body established under the Electricity Act, 2003. The commission is responsible for regulating the generation, transmission, distribution, and supply of electricity within the state of Tripura. Its duties include fixing tariffs for electricity, resolving disputes between licensees and consumers, and ensuring that the electricity industry operates in a manner that benefits both the industry and consumers.
Eligibility
The Chairman and Member should be individuals of:
- Ability, integrity, and standing.
- Adequate knowledge in areas such as engineering, finance, commerce, economics, law, or management.
Additionally, the Chairman or Member must also possess the requisite qualification to be appointed as:
- A Judge of the High Court, or
- A District Judge.
If the Chairman does not meet this legal qualification, the Member must hold this qualification to ensure the regulatory body adheres to the legal framework.
Role and Responsibilities
The Chairman and Member will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the proper regulation of the electricity supply and distribution in Tripura.
- Overseeing and enforcing tariff structures and ensuring that the rates are fair to consumers while supporting industry needs.
- Adjudicating disputes between electricity providers and consumers or license holders.
- Working on policy formulation, development of new regulatory frameworks, and ensuring that TERC operates in alignment with national electricity goals.
- Facilitating the state’s transition to renewable energy sources and ensuring sustainable development in the electricity sector.

Mode and Location
This is a full-time, on-site position based at the TERC headquarters in Agartala, Tripura.
